Some questions have been asked that can be answered here.
How long can books be checked out before they are overdue?
This year students may keep books for up to 2 weeks before they must be renewed or returned. Books can be returned at any time between checkouts. There are open checkout times each day where students can check out, renew or return books. If they have retuned a book, they can check out another. For grades 2-5, it is the student's job to remember their own books before checking out new books.

How many books can I get each week?
Kindergarten, 1st grade and Primary Life Skills students can check out 2 books each week if the current checkout books are returned. In January, they will be able to check out 2 books each week.
Grade 2 students can have 2 books. Grade 3 can have up to 3 books out at a time. Grades 4 & 5 can have up to 4 books out at a time.
Books can be renewed up to 2 times. Some teachers collect them in the classroom and return them early in the morning. Other teachers have students bring the books to the library when they have their class here.

What other important things do I need to know?
Grades 4 & 5 must bring a writing utensil to the library. Mechanical pencils are fine, but the librarian does not keep pencil lead for students to use. Once seated in the library, 4th and 5th grade students may not go back to the classroom to retrieve a book, pencil or folder they forgot. During hot weather, they can bring a water bottle, but it must stay on the floor. Students may not bring putty to the library as it has an oily film that gets on the tables and the books.

What do I do if I have an overdue book?
Return it as soon as possible! All books are due 2 weeks after check out. They can be renewed, even if they are overdue.
An overdue book blocks students from checking out new books. Librarians can override that, but too many overdue books or too many weeks without returning a book will result in loss of check out privileges.

What do we do about a lost or damaged book?
First, don't be afraid to tell teachers or Mrs. Meyer. Books can be lost for a few days or for many years.
If a book is lost, you also may have to pay for a replacement. If the book is found within one calendar year of payment, a refund will be sent from Lincoln Center. Funds for reimbursing lost books payments cannot be kept at elementary schools.
Other things can happen to books. They get wet. Pages come out and covers detach. Only a book that is never read will stay perfect.
We like our books to have many readers. If the book is damaged, but still readable, you may have to pay a fee for repairing it.
If it is badly damaged, you may have to pay for a replacement. If the book is older and will be replaced, the new copy may exceed the price of the old one. The library will charge only what was paid when the book was new to the shelves here. A new or like-new copy of the book can be given to the library in lieu of payment.
